Bead & Jewellery Magazine  |  Issue 139
As we head into the season of “mists and mellow fruitfulness” we thought pride of place on the front cover should go to Cheryl Clarke’s beautiful earrings.
The colours in her gorgeous mix of SuperDuos and seed beads seemed to combine the warm tones of autumn so well.
But when Cheryl came up with the idea for the easy-to-make design, she was focused on matching it with the dress she was wearing to a wedding rather than the misty hues of fall. But whatever the event you decide to make these for we still think these earrings are perfect for the time of year.
If you want something a bit edgier then Nichole Starman’s triform bangle using Triangle beads is quite dramatic, and the colours she uses would fit in well over the coming months.
Vicky also turns to Triangles to create a spiky, slinky bracelet that would be perfect if your thoughts are starting to shift to the party season ahead.
Black and mixed metal jewellery never goes out of style and an antique copper ring just screams autumn. Dawn Gatehouse puts together a necklace that she envisages being worn with a little black dress or with a shirt and jeans.
You can’t pretend there’s anything autumnal about Hortense E. Thompson’s geometric tetrahedron bracelet, and it’s likely to test your maths alongside your beading skills, but the result is a wonderful series of of triangular pyramids with an amazing flexing capability.
If you are keen to make something a little more traditional then Jennifer Airs has designed a Victorian cuff that will work in wide or narrow versions. And Lynda Pearce shows us how to layer different wirework techniques to create an elegant leaf style pendant.
Talk of leaves brings us back to the season of “mists and mellow fruitfulness” again. Enjoy your hobby as the evenings draw in.
