Research by MyJobQuote.co.uk has revealed that one in six Britons who have undertaken a home improvement project in the last year have hurt themselves in the process, costing the NHS an estimated £222m from A&E visits. Power drills, ladders and general tools were the main items involved in the mishaps. Two thirds of those injured have had to stay home from work as a result – typically amounting to three days off.
47% of Brits dream of escaping the rat race and starting a new life on a smallholding, a survey by rural insurer NFU Mutual reveals. Over half of those interested cited the ability to live more sustainably or self-sufficiently as being an attractive prospect, while others felt it would make for a healthier lifestyle or just a great way to spend retirement. The opportunity to live in the countryside was also a major draw for those surveyed.
