The design of this hillside home in Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park effectively camouflages the new build amongst the landscape. Brown & Brown
Architects aimed to celebrate the unique site and disturb the breathtaking vistas as little as possible. The project’s pitched roofline and sod roof, planted with grass tussocks cut from the hillside blankets, are key features that allow the build to blend in sympathetically with its surrounding environment.
The London-based owners’ home-away-from-home boasts sweeping views of the valleys and the River Don. Upon entering through a Corten steel vestibule, the open-plan kitchen/living/dining room offers a clear sightline of the rolling hills through expansive glazing, which is broken up by a suspended stove.
