The August medal competition was held in warm, dry, windy conditions which proved quite difficult for the participants. Making a rare appearance, former club steward Jim Cooper led the early starters with a net 64, which he held until late in the afternoon, when Grant Edmondson pushed him into second place after securing a nett 63.
