My chosen bait at the time was the old KG1, a fishmeal bait with fish and fruit attractors
One thing I have always been meticulous about in my angling is hookbait choice. Now don’t get me wrong, I do use shopbought hookbaits every now and again, but if I can’t get exactly what I want off the shelf, then I have no worries about
making them at home, and won’t compromise my fishing by using something that would do the job okay, rather than be absolutely perfectly for the situation I’m faced with. In particular, I rarely use a pop-up straight out of a tub, and I would say that for 99 per cent of my fishing, I prefer something I’ve made at home, corkball rolled baits being my
personal choice. All but one of my fish on Carth fell to 14mm corkball pop-ups, and I certainly felt that they gave me an edge.
