He’d done it. Hacked his wife to death with an axe. There was no doubt Cristian Loga-Negru had carried out the brutal slaying. But he said he wasn’t guilty because he was insane. Now he was going to prove it. Speaking before Loga-Negru was sentenced, District Attorney Rich Chiapete said, ‘I don’t think the use of the hand-held axe in this case was an accident. I think the weapon was meant to inflict the maximum amount of pain, terror and mutilation on this poor victim. He clearly had intent to do what he did.’
