Shaznay Lewis, Melanie Blatt and sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton had already notched up a Top 5 hit with I Know Where It’s At in the autumn of 1997 before Never Ever became the group’s first No.1, and one of their defining songs.
Penned by founding member Lewis, along with co-writers Robert Jazayeri and Sean Mather, Never Ever was released on 10 November 1997, just two weeks before their debut album hit record shelves.
It was the second of five singles to be spun from the five times platinumselling eponymous LP, three of which would peak at No.1.
