Looking back over the past 12 months in music, the immediate takeaway has been how 2024 was the year of the ladies. From Taylor’s globe-straddling Eras Tour to the zeitgeist-grabbing dominance of Chappell and Charli – everyone from Vogue to Newsweek celebrated the brat summer – there’s also been career highs from Beyoncé, Billie and Ariana, plus an onstage union of Madonna and Kylie to celebrate International Women’s Day. It’s clear that girl power is alive and well.
No Doubt reformed to play at Coachella – hopefully Emily Eavis has called Gwen Stefani to accept her offer of repeating their set at Glastonbury – and Girls Aloud’s triumphant return was the perfect celebration of their legacy, which encompassed a loving tribute to Sarah Harding.
In terms of reunions, 2025 is shaping up to be a vintage year thanks to news of Scissor Sisters and Oasis hitting the UK’s stages next summer. We’re particularly excited, too, for Kylie’s first headlining tour since 2018, the now annual summer of Bruce Springsteen and the finales of ELO and Cyndi Lauper, the latter being the icon’s first major set of shows in a decade.
