Cabaret Voltaire’s co-founder returns with regular collaborator Benge on nine tracks dominated by pulsing synths, methodical rhythms and murmured vocals that may promote queasiness and paranoia. That said, while much of TTT’s hypnotically repetitive – like opener Contact – it’s often surprisingly cheerful, particularly when he tosses in a little funk into the bassline on Galaxy, Guernica Gallery and The Trial. Not that he’s sold out or anything: Wasteland is quietly malicious, not unlike some of Benge’s Fader work with Neil Arthur.
