French civic leaders have announced plans to name a street in Paris after David Bowie.
Mayor of Paris, Jérôme Coumet, a selfprofessed fan of the singer, has proposed Rue David Bowie should be the new name of a road near the major Gare d’Austerlitz station in the south-east of the French capital. “Bowie had a strong link with the city of lights”, he explained. Isabelle Durand, founder of fansite Bowie France, agreed: “Sometimes David would come incognito on holiday. Some of his first concerts were in Paris. In 1965, he played at the Golf-Drouot club. He also recorded Pin Ups and Low at Château d’Hérouville, near Paris.”
