It was a farewell tour that Sir Elton started back in 2018. But the difficulties associated with Covid – lockdowns, rescheduling, and then more rescheduling – mean that five years on from there, he’s still waving goodbye.
And what a mammoth goodbye the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour is. Tonight’s performance marks Elton’s 282nd Farewell show, and there’s 48 more dates to go (including Glastonbury Festival) before he finally bows out in Stockholm on 8 July. Marking the end to more than half a century of city and country-hopping, it’s reportedly the most financially lucrative tour of all time. Front row tickets for tonight’s sell-out show are a mere £899.
