It could’ve been a very different story for Glasgow’s Del Amitri. Listen to their first album and you’ll find a band enamoured by jangling indie, and prone to noodling guitar lines. But in the hinterland between that eponymous 1985 release and 1989’s Waking Hours something clearly happened, and they re-emerged as writers of lyrical, driving anthems.
