HOW I FELL IN LOVE WITH FOOD :MARTHA COLLISON
AT 17, MARTHA WAS GBBO’S YOUNGEST CONTESTANT, BACK IN 2014. HER FIRST BOOK, TWIST, IS OUT NOW (£16.99; HARPERCOLLINS)
When I was little I’d be taken in by adverts for kids’ gadgets, all bright colours. My parents didn’t like gimmicky things, and when I was eight, instead of buying a kids’ ice cream maker I’d seen on TV, they bought me the real thing and decorated it with stickers so it looked fun. That’s what got me into making things. My friends used to come round after school and we’d make ice cream. But my love of cooking runs deeper than that.
