The 3.75” version of the reptilian warriors from Mars remains the only 21st-century Ice Warrior figure available – as the updated design has never been issued as a 5.5” model. Considering the reduced size of the toys, the sculpt here is pleasingly detailed, and, as with most of the range, the figure comes with a plastic base in the shape of the contemporary ‘DW’ Doctor Who logo.
A 2013 Cold War playset included a figure unique to this episode – aversion of the spindly creature inside the Ice Warrior’s armour. What was unusual about this release, however, was that it was a completely different design to the one seen on screen. This led to speculation that it was an early draft of the monster that somehow ended up being made into a toy, together with claims that this version of the creature can be briefly glimpsed as a background character in The Rings of Akhaten (2013). Either way, the figure is made of flexible rubber and is not articulated.
