Brilliantly designed by James Acheson, this mechanical foe appeared in the Fourth Doctor’s first adventure, Robot (1974-75). Billed as the Giant Robot – “that controls the World!” – it took its place in Denys Fisher’s range of dolls in 1977 (below left). Over 30 years later, the Robot was a ‘collect and build’ bonus item (below right) in Character’s first ‘classic’ wave in 2008 – its constituent parts (plus disintegrator gun accessory) included with eight other figures. Released alongside a Fourth Doctor figure (far right), a tweaked, pre-assembled version of the Robot was made available in 2022 (inset).
The versions of the newly regenerated Doctor, still wearing the Third Doctor’s clothes, were released in 2019 (right) and 2013 (centre).
