Howdy y’all and welcome to the July issue of Dolls House & Miniature Scene. In case you hadn’t already guessed we’re dipping our toes in the water and exploring American themed miniatures. We begin this month looking at the stunning dioramas created by Ken Hamilton, a seasoned US artisan who works mostly in 1/24th scale and who captures not only movement within his scenes but dramatic detail too. Ken’s interest in miniatures stems back to his childhood in the mid 1950s, receiving in excess of 175 awards for his work since.

Our team of talented contributors will show you how to make a baseball set, (something that I did attempt to re-create, but dare not reveal!), a folding chair that actually pivots along with a scratch-built reader project depicting a dockside harbour.

Elsewhere, we chat to a former biochemistry researcher in this month’s Across the Pond, look at fantastic quarter scale miniatures created by Julia Tollafield and with summer in the air Moi Ali and Sadie Brown get creative making miniature drinks and a spinning dreamcatcher respectively.
