Welcome to my last issue as
editor of Ford and Fordson
Tractors.
I’m to take over the
monthly magazine Classic Plant &
Machinery, another title, like FFT, that I
created originally. As most you will know
I also edit Old Tractor, another monthly
title, and have many commitments
to other magazines such as Tractor &
Machinery, Classic Massey & Ferguson
Enthusiast, besides being involved in
Jayne’s P & J Tours, so I have reluctantly
agreed to pass FFT to Scott Lambert who
I know will do a good job with it. If you
don’t know Scott, well he is a great chap
who lives in Cambridgeshire and edits the
bi-monthly magazine Classic Massey &
Ferguson Enthusiast.
Although I will be stepping down as the
main editor of this magazine I will be its
‘editor at large’ and will be looking after
events, sales, news and will have a feature
each issue. You have my phone number
and you are all welcome to contact me
anytime, as many of you already do.
Well at last the weather has turned a
little warmer, but we are still not exactly
basking in heat. I have been to some great
events as I write this on May Day and
am looking forward to travelling, with a
number of others, to Belgium for their Ford
and Fordson featured rally this weekend.
On 17th March the Irish – Welsh Road
Run was something very special. It was
well organised with 112 tractors travelling
over from Ireland for the run. There was
also the National Road Run on Easter Day,
this was a bit of an off on event in the
week leading up to Easter, but Chepstow
Racecourse came to the rescue. What a
wonderful start/finish venue that was,
even if a Fordson Dexta from Norfolk
had to retire before the start when it
unfortunately had a skirmish with a car
(no fault of the Dexta driver).
Even if I didn’t know where I was
travelling, as no route maps were
available, a really great day was had.
The lunch venue was excellent, as were
the food prices, good value for money
including 80p tea and £2.00 for a tray of
chips and a full roast for £5.
