Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he has used artificial intelligence to create a new song by The Beatles.
The 80-year-old singer told Radio 4’s Today programme that technology was used to “extricate” John Lennon’s voice from “a ropey little bit of cassette” – an existing demo believed to be one recorded in 1978 called Now and Then. The recording is part of a collection John made before his death in 1980, which was labelled “For Paul” and later given to him by John’s widow Yoko Ono.
