While so many parts of the horse world remained steeped in tradition, there is an ever-increasing amount of research and innovation going into our sport – from safety equipment to clothing fabrics and tack to nutrition.

The net result is an increasing ability to make informed decisions to benefit not only ourselves but also our horses. A great example of this are developments in understanding of how best to help our horses thermoregulate. The extensive work done on the best way to cool horses began ahead of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where the combination of heat and humidity meant innovative ways to reduce core temperatures were required, particularly on cross-country day. The ongoing work in this area can only benefit our horses, especially in a changing climate, so make sure you’re up to speed on the best way to keep your horse cool this summer – experts Helen Reynolds and Emma Cornish explain all you need to know.

One of the most valuable things any rider can do is to ride plenty of different horses. But while the positives are clear-cut, riding unfamiliar horses can also be intimidating. In this issue, dressage star Annabella Pidgley shares her advice that will help you feel confident on different horses, develop a bond with your own horse and expand your riding horizons.

With such a long, wet winter and spring, it hardly feels like summer’s begun and we’re already planning for autumn, with our Burghley preview.

UK's top equestrian Mag

UK's best-selling equestrian monthly Revisto 13 agosto 2020

Best horse mag ever

Just bought some back issues and a subscription. Used to buy it from the feed barn. Really like the way I can access the old issues whenever I like, and it is so quick to open. And this is the best all round read for me. Revisto 16 julho 2013

V Quick to download and great quality.

I love this mag and when I got an iPad for christmas thought I would try the digital version. I downloaded the sample for free, no problems. and now I get it sent to my iPad every month. bliss! Revisto 26 fevereiro 2013
