Ghostly figures often feature in TV and film productions. Fortunately, Final Cut Pro X has all the post-production tools that you’ll need to turn an actor into an apparition. For the effect to work you’ll need to shoot your actor walking through the location. You’ll then need separate footage of the same location without the actor present, so that you can mix the two clips together to create a semi-transparent figure. By using masks you can keep another actor nice and solid to contrast with your ‘ghost’ - and make sure to shoot using a tripod so that the detail in both clips will align perfectly. We’ve provided you with source clips so that you can follow our guide. It’s also worth viewing our edited sequence so that you can see what you’re working towards.
