Welcome to our April issue!
It’s been a great couple of months to hear live music with lots of bands touring and promoting new albums. I was thrilled to have the chance to see Skunk Anansie on their Anarchytecture tour and interview Mark Richardson for our cover feature – the band has been going for more than two decades and they seem to have more strength and vitality than ever before. That kind of performance comes at a price though, as Mark explains in a brutally honest interview that covers injuries, addiction and being forced to address his technique as a pro player.
We have an insightful interview with Ian Thomas too – one of the most in-demand session players of the moment, he tells us about assessing your own playing to keep improving.
We also speak to Tony Palermo on seven years with Papa Roach, John Fred Young of Black Stone Cherry, and Woody Woodgate tells us about those iconic intros and drum parts to the many Madness hits.
We kick off a new feature this month – Drum Makers takes you behind the scenes of the people who have created a business out of their passion, and this month we feature the spectacular VK Drums (you might remember their Titanium kit that we reviewed a while ago).
There’s a competition to win one of the brand new Remo Silentstroke Practice Pads, and we have an article on confidence by Kate Wilkinson.
There is also news, reviews, tuition and lots more – enjoy!
