RAIDERS LOOKING UPWARDS
DOUG THOMSON is impressed by developments at Barrow Raiders
LEIGH have caught the eye in many ways this season, including by signing the likes of Blake Ferguson and now Josh Charnley, and by handing a three-year contract extension to exciting Papua New Guinea hooker Edwin Ipape, with owner Derek Beaumont explaining how it reflected his long-term vision for growing the club.
While Ferguson and Charnley are well known, the much-admired 25-year-old Ipape has been a big hit since arriving at the Centurions from Queensland Cup side PNG Hunters and is a potential stand-out for the Kumuls in this year's World Cup.
By the time the tournament starts when hosts England face Samoa at St James' Park, Newcastle on Saturday, October 15, Beaumont hopes to be preparing for what would be Leigh's fourth stab at Super League.
