War rumours

The summer exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath will feature British works on paper from the 1940s drawn largely from The Hepworth Wakefield. Many of the works were commissioned for the nation through the War Artists Advisory Committee, which encouraged artists to depict the impact of war on the home front. Works on show include paintings by Norma Bull, Leslie Atkinson, Clifford and Rosemary Ellis, as well as Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland, Barbara Hepworth and John Piper. Lunchtime exhibition tours will take place every Thursday, from 18 July to 5 September, from 12.30 to 1pm. War and Rumours of War is at the Victoria Art Gallery, Bridge Street, Bath until 15 September;www.victoriagal.org.uk
