▲ David Bellamy sketching in cold climes
With winter upon us and a climate that can give us a January day of intense cold one minute and balmy warm sunshine the next, it pays to be ready for whatever the season may throw at us, especially when it comes to snow. The landscape may not stay under pristine snow conditions for long so we need to be well prepared to capture those precious views. Snow scenes are extremely effective in helping you introduce a less cluttered approach to landscape painting, as so much is hidden beneath the white blanket and there is no need to take Monsieur Monet ’s method of three overcoats and a portable stove.
