The emergency appeals for Malawi by four charities and the Scottish government last year raised nearly £1m altogether.
The appeals were launched after the country’s worst food crisis for a decade left over a third of the population without access to enough food. 6.5 million people were thought to be at risk after prolonged drought last year, which followed devastating floods in 2015.
Reflecting the historical connections between Scotland and Malawi, the Scottish Government agreed to provide match funding to appeals by Christian Aid Scotland, EMMS International, Oxfam Scotland and SCIAF.
