VERDICT
We started by examining some Linux log files, a common task for the curious Linux user. Due to some work we’d been doing with a backup program that had encountered a lot of errors, the file /var/log/syslog had ballooned to 29MB in size. All of the programs were able to open the file, although Notepadqq, Atom and Visual Studio Code gave warnings that it was a large file. When editing the file in Visual Studio Code, CPU usage was high. Being fair, it was the only one of the editors to attempt colour highlighting of the file.
