Our cover feature this time is a steam stationary engine of very traditional design as Peter Russell describes the more interesting features of a Maudslay type table engine.
The Newton Abbot club completed a new running track and incorporated some novel construction ideas that may be use to others looking to renew the club track.
Ashely Best continues with his series on making the Bolton tramcar, No. 46 by looking at the origins of the typical British truck design. His wonderful drawings accompany the text.
Brian Baker is excellent at simplifying a piece of work for the novice engineer and in his new article he is making a very useful item that will be used time and time again.
Chris Gunn completes the belly tank of the Garrett 4CD and Ian Couchman completes the 3 inch scale threshing drum and sets it to work (threshing 3 inch scale corn, of course!)
Robert Walker furthers the construction of a small steam launch engine and John Smith looks a little deeper into the advantages of the Chester Champion Mill.

Model Engineer

It is a good magazine. I am old so not to interested in the modern cad/cam. Did the Cad for a living as a manager. I am interested in the old ways of doing model engineering. My dad was into making small 3.5" gauge locos. So I am versed in his ways. As he said you make the side plates with a hack saw, file, surface table & bench drill. No need to mill out anything. What milling you do can be done on the Lathe with a large vertical slide. Bit different to what I see. You need more to teach filing skills much more. Keeps this a cheaper hoby. Revisto 30 maio 2020
