A HIGHLAND MSP has asked Transport Scotland to fast-track its plans for the development of the Islay ferry service.
Fergus Ewing, who is also the cabinet secretary for the rural economy, asked the question at a ‘ferry summit’ following disruption to the Islay service, which resulted in the MV Hebridean Isles being out of action for 16 days.
The meeting was organised by MSP Michael Russell in association with Islay Community Council. The aim of the meeting was to ensure future disruptions don’t result in severe loss of services and to look at future developments.
