A £6 MILLION project to improve Tobermory’s water supply is under way, Scottish Water has announced. The Tobermory Water Treatment Works (WTW) currently serves about 1,350 people in Tobermory and Salen, but will now extend to Craignure.
Scottish Water said its investment ‘will meet demand during peak summer months and enable growth in the Tobermory area and, following the installation of more than 11 miles of water mains in 2014, will provide better quality drinking water, and greater security of supply, to about 220 people in the Craignure and Lochdon areas.
‘These customers, who currently receive their water from the Craignure WTW, will have their source of supply changed to the Tobermory WTW, once the upgrade has been completed.
