THE SENIOR Lochaber councillor appointed as new chairman of the Highland Council committee responsible for education says he is determined that front line additional support needs staff numbers will not be cut.
Andrew Baxter, Independent councillor for Fort William and Ardnamurchan, made the pledge in the wake of the uproar ignited this week after a leaked document revealed the council was looking at possibly axing up to 40 secondary school teachers, 30 additional support needs staff and dozens of classroom assistants.
