A young osprey chick has been nicknamed ‘Bolt’ by wildlife experts a er he survived a lightning storm last month which saw nest webcam equipment damaged.
Woodland Trust Scotland operates the live camera feed from an osprey nest at Loch Arkaig near Fort William.of people from around the world tuned in last year to watch osprey parents rear a chick on the nest, but this year tragedy struck when a pine marten raided the nest in May.the internet camera feed was cut in June a er what may well have been a lightning strike during that month’s erce storm. But conservationists were delighted when it emerged that the next nearest osprey pair had successfully reared a chick, which had survived the lightning storm, and christened the feisty youngster Bolt in tribute.
