Disappointment and frustration was the overriding feeling at afirecent meeting of the CalMac community board in Mallaig as members expressed concerns over the continuing delays in the delivery of two vessels under construction.
The meeting follows the news last month that technical challenges in building a duel-fuel ferry that can use liquified natural gas (LNG) fuel had led to a further delay.
One of the boats is for the Uig-Lochmaddy-Tarber t triangle, while the first, the MV Glen Sannox, is for the Ardrossan to Arran route. Chairman of the board Angus Campbell said members were keen to work positively with all parties concerned to bring about a more robust process in future.
