THE NEXT phase of landslip mitigation measures on the A83 through the Rest and Be Thankful is under way.
Work on the excavation of three catch-pits at the bottom of the slope started at the beginning of last week (October 23). The pits have been designed to catch any material from potential landslips to prevent the debris from reaching the road. The scheme will cost around £1.8 million.
Modelling work has been carried out to establish the best location for the catch-pits. Their design is endorsed by the A83 Taskforce and members were given an update on the work at a meeting last week in Arrochar.
