Highland Council has responded to concerns that burials are not taking place soon enough after people have died.
One man who contacted the Lochaber Times recently said it had been two weeks before a family funeral could be held due to the council only digging one grave a day. Responding, Highland Council explained: ‘In Lochaber, we have a burial squad of two men who predominantly do all our burial works.
‘Due to the logistics and size of Lochaber it is not always possible to do more than one burial a day.
