The annual Scottish Six Days Trial got off to a fantastic start at the weekend, particularly for Kinlochleven rider Gary Macdonald, who made history on Saturday when he became the first Scotsman to lift the prestigious Challenge Trophy as winner of the Scottish Pre-65 Trial.
To say he was delighted is an understatement as you can plainly see from our photograph on page one, and his parents Arthur and Sandra are rightly proud of his achievements.
Arguably the greatest motorcycle adventure in the world, Lochaber is widely regarded as the birthplace of the SSDT where since its origin in 1909, no other trial has captured the imagination of rider and spectator in the same way.
