In Britain we have a vast array of fabulous boundaries and finishes to the perimeter of our period homes. From wrought-iron railings to later cast ironwork, masonry gate posts and walls to timber fences, these are key aspects of houses which greatly affect their setting and presentation. So many types abound that I couldn’t possibly discuss them all in one piece, so I’ll instead focus on a few of my favourites.
