ow crazy to think that we have not run the Annual NailFile Nail Competition at the Professional Beauty Johannesburg Exp since 2019! But such is the case and this was mostly due to the Covid pandemic. Last year, the Professional Beauty team were so focused on re-introducing the Expo back into a tentative market that it was not possible to run the nail competition as well. However, it’s back now – and with a vengeance! We encourage all competitive nail techs to enter – we have both the Live Competition categories and the Off-Site Competition categories to choose from. See pages 60 and 61 for more details.
It’s still quite rare to find male techs in the South African industry but we live in hopes of more men infiltrating the market. In this issue we have included an article about an overseas male nail tech and the challenges he has faced in becoming successfully established.
