CONSTRUCTION of a new railway station to connect the Portway Park & Ride with the Severn Beach line has begun.
Bristol City Council and Network Rail are working together to build the first new railway station since the construction of Parson Street in 1927, 95 years ago.
Costing £4.2m, the project is part of the West of England Combined Authority’s (WECA) wider plans to enhance the local rail network through the ambitious MetroWest programme. The station, situated between Shirehampton and Avonmouth is being jointly funded by Bristol City Council, the WECA and the DfT.
