CDA WAGONS SECURED FOR PRESERVATION
1
1:
Nine withdrawn china clay wagons left St Blazey Yard in Cornwall on December 6, for a new life in preservation, with eight bound for the Bodmin Railway (Nos. 375050/061/06 3/067/090/091/113/117) and one for the Plym Valley Railway (No. 375030). The rake of nine was propelled down the short branch from St Blazey to Par Docks by DB Cargo’s No. 66165, then prepared for onward transport by road. The last CDAs were withdrawn from traffic on August 11, 2023 – meaning this movement (seen about to pass under the Cornish Main Line) could be the last for the type on Network Rail metals. A tenth CDA No. 375102 has been purchased by MPower Kernow, the science and technology social enterprise that operates the turntable at St Blazey, but this has been left in the yard.
