We’re not too sure how supervisor roles work at Nintendo but the magic of Miyamoto can still be felt in
New Super Mario Bros
. The game proved to be a triumph for the team making it, as it went on to sell more than 30 million units, players obviously impressed with its fusion of classic and new ideas. While it could be argued that the New series lacks the creativity of Mario’s mainline 3D games, there’s still plenty to enjoy as you romp through the game’s varied levels. New power-ups such as the Mega Mushroom swell Mario to a gargantuan size, three coins are deviously hidden in each level, ensuring plenty of replay value, and there are numerous other secrets to find. Yes it’s easy, but that just means you’re more likely to discover its many delights.
