Com modore Amiga 500
[ Words Craig Grannell ]
A miga 500? What happened to the first 499? In the bin, while everyone used something better?
Ah, the hilarious ‘Amiga is rubbish’ jibe. But it took many years for this thing to be eclipsed by the PC. In the late ’80s, Amiga owners didn’t need to bang on about their pre-emptive multitasking smarts and how Amigas were used to craft special effects for Babylon 5. They already owned a machine with the raw power of a PC, and far greater visual and audio clout – for a fraction of the cost. At least they did once Commodore split the Amiga line in two, for pro and home users.
