WHEN IT FIRST less expensive Turbo, 4S and regular Taycan have received lesser steroid injections. In the case of the entry-level Taycan saloon, 0-62mph now takes 4.8sec – 0.4sec quicker than before.
The new Taycan can go farther between charges than before, too, thanks to a more power-dense battery developed with input from Porsche’s racing division.
The usable capacity of the Performance Plus battery (standard on the Turbo,Turbo S and all Cross Turismo models, optional elsewhere) has increased from 89kWh to 97kWh, yet it’s 9% lighter than before.
With this specified, the Taycan now has an impressive official range of up to 421 miles (versus 313 miles previously), well up on the arrived in the UK four years ago, the Taycan blew the socks off rival petrol and electric performance cars – so much so that we named it our top performance car of 2021. And even though the Taycan saloon no longer wears that crown today, the chunky Cross Turismo version is still our favourite electric performance car.
