LESSONS IN BADASSERY
When Ironman legend Chrissie Wellington replied to my request for an interview last year, I did a little internal woop of joy. Here was a world-renowned athlete, an icon in sport, saying yes to coming on my little blog, Lessons in Badassery, which was a mere three months old at the time. It wasn’t just a yes from an athlete I admired, but more proof that when women support each other, everyone benefits.
And that neatly sums up the point of my blog: to support and share the stories of women doing incredible things in sport, fitness and adventure. What had started out as quest to find and follow inspiring women to help keep myself motivated, snowballed when I realised the sheer number of female athletes and adventurers flying under the media radar. Since then, I’ve interviewed everyone from the all-female Ice Maidens, who skied for nine hours a day hauling 74kg pulks behind them for 61 days across Antarctica, to record-breaking ultra-runners and kickass endurance adventurers.
