October – in publishing – means the Frankfurt Book Fair, the worlds largest publishing trade fair. It is quite a spectacle if only for the sheer size of the venue and the astonishing quantity of publishers there are around the world. Football pitch-sized floor after football pitch-sized floor crammed with the stands, some large, some small, of publishers from everywhere from Azerbaijan to Kwazulu Natal (actually I made that last one up, but you get the picture).
