The North American Review, published at the University of Northern Iowa, is, the university proudly proclaims, the oldest literary magazine in America, founded in 1815 and with past contributors including Walt Whitman, John Steinbeck, Flannery O’Connor, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Edith Wharton.
The editorial team is ‘especially interested in work that addresses contemporary North American concerns and issues, particularly with the environment, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and class’. Serious literary writing is wanted from writers around the world.
