According to Kennel Club records, for several years now, large breeds — with the exception of the Labrador — have decreased in popularity, being replaced by smaller breeds.
“On average, larger dogs tend to stay in our care around a month-and-a-half longer than smaller breeds of dogs,” said Catherine Gillie, regional manager at canine charity Dogs Trust. “But every dog is unique and so there can be many reasons why dogs remain with us for slightly longer, and these are not necessarily related to their size.
