The Queensland Rail ‘Lander cars
The well-known train name ‘Lander emerged out of tradition, trend and the state name (QueensLAND), as much as a brand attempting to capture the idea of travel across a wide swath of land, with each of the train sets formed of a mix of carriages, with the original 1950/60s-era steel-bodied M Series cars combining with a smaller number of 1980s-built stainless-steel L Series carriages, Q Series stainless steel power vans and motor-rail vehicles. Engineer and seasoned traveller, James Chuang pays a special tribute to the carriages that together have formed these trains for over 60 years.
Further developments of Steering Bogies for Locomotives
In the light of new technology presented in a paper at AusRAIL 2014, and information contributed by bogie design guru Colin Butcher, Peter Clark takes a close look at recent developments in steering bogie design in Australia.

Regional Rail Link Review
David Campbell explains the rationale behind Victoria’s ground-breaking Regional Rail Link project.
