■ HAVING renovated the structure of Aberdeenshire’s Alford station, building contractors handed possession to Alford Valley Community Railway (AVCR) at the beginning of June. AVCR volunteers immediately commenced fitting out the kitchen in the building. Efforts to revive the 2ft gauge Alford Valley line continue apace, on May 27 over 114 hours of work was put in by 18 volunteers at the station site, with their efforts including application of 30 litres of paint to the fence around the station building.
