More than one company has promised a unique hardware platform dedicated to retro gaming, but none had truly proven the concept to be viable until the release of the Evercade handheld last year. While it certainly wasn’t perfect, the system represented an affordable way to buy retro games, and has established itself enough that we now have the Evercade VS. The home console version of the Evercade runs the same cartridges as the handheld (bar two), but offers a host of improvements – most prominently, the ability to connect four controllers for multiplayer games.
