STAR LETTER
RETRO FOR ALL
Dear Retro Gamer, I’m sure you get this a lot, but what’s the big deal about how old something needs to be in order to qualify as retro? I’m in my late-20s and some of my happiest memories are playing on my dad’s Xbox 360 with him or just watching him play games. I associate that machine with my youth, and judging from what I see online, many others do the same with even older machines like the Amiga, PlayStation and Nintendo 64. The Xbox 360 has been surpassed by at least two generations of newer Xboxes now, so there’s no way it can be considered new (in my opinion at least). I play a lot of Xbox 360 games on my Xbox Series X now, so I was delighted to see that system get some coverage in issue 247. If people stopped worrying about what is and isn’t retro they’d probably have a lot more fun.

Thanks for writing in, Lucas. We’ve never understood the arguments around retro gaming, but they have been going on forever. Yours is one of the more sensible takes on the subject so have a book as a little treat.
